Whether you love or hate social media, it’s here to stay. Well, except for TikTok, which might be on its way out. Mastering the art of social media is more crucial than ever. It’s a perfect space to educate, share impact, and solicit donations. The balance between being informative and becoming annoying is a learning process. The key is to learn how your community wants to be engaged. And you can discover that by monitoring what’s liked, shared, and commented on…
Here are a few other key strategies to maximize your social media efforts:
Showcase Your Impact: People connect with stories and results. Regularly share updates and stories that highlight the tangible impact your organization is making. Photos, videos, and testimonials are powerful tools to show the real difference your work is making in the community.
Be Transparent: Trust is your greatest currency. Be open about your processes, successes, and even the challenges. Transparency builds credibility and fosters trust among your supporters and potential donors.
Effective Calls to Action: While sharing your achievements, remember to clearly articulate how others can contribute. Whether it’s donating, volunteering, or attending an event, make the steps simple and easy to follow. Post pictures from events and ask attendees to do the same and tag your organization.
Engage and Expand Your Network: Social media is about building community. Engage with your followers through comments, messages, and posts. Ask open-ended questions to spark conversations and encourage your followers to suggest anyone who might be interested in your cause. When people comment on your posts, follow up, even if it’s just to say, “Thank you.”
Leverage Hashtags and Trends: Utilize relevant hashtags to reach broader audiences and tap into current trends that align with your mission. This can increase visibility and attract new supporters who care about your cause. If you’re having trouble in this area, leverage AI for help.
Check the Data: Reviewing the analytics is great. If you do not have a social media manager, there are other ways to gauge impact. You can easily look at who is commenting, liking, and sharing your posts. Learning what type of content gets the most engagement, and what time of day/week it occurs will help inform your strategy. If you do have a social media manager, ensure they regularly share insights with the team for informed decision-making and enhanced strategy.
Develop a Calendar: A social media calendar with suggested posts for the next 2-3 months makes your life easier. Looking at an events schedule and other marketing calendar can help you create posts. This saves time and allows you to adapt to audience preferences in real-time.
Post with a Picture: Adding a picture to a post increases its visibility. Whether it’s a picture from an event, an invitation, or even AI-created, images help people to stop scrolling and read the information.
Find Ambassadors: With so many social accounts, it’s impossible for people to see everything you post. However, it’s easy to identify who comments, shares, and likes your posts the most. Ask these individuals if they would regularly share your posts. Having a handful of ambassadors can expose your organization to more potential donors.
🔗 Stay Connected: Social media is a great marketing tool but the real key, is creating connections and engagement. Ask your audience what they want to see, who they want to meet, and how they wish to engage. Your followers are your biggest advocates—make them feel heard!
By focusing on these elements, you can create a powerful and engaging social media presence. I would love to hear from you and learn the best ways you engage online!
